“Singing Joyfully”- Meet Abi & Kevin Loftus LFC’s Worship Leaders
A Q&A WITH LFC’S WORSHIP LEADERS, ABI & KEVIN LOFTUS
Living Fellowship Church is celebrating how the Lord has brought Abi & Kevin Loftus to lead us in joyful worship of our Lord.
The Loftus’ are excited to join together with the church in corporate worship and experience the deep, perfect love of God, and the freedom that He gives when we choose to surrender our whole selves to Him.
We pray that LFC is a place where we pray for one another often, carry one another’s burdens, serve one another and the surrounding community, and ultimately love and serve God well. The two envision songs of praise being a tool to bring us right to the throne of God and are excited to lead others to that place where they can experience His love and mercy through music.
Get to know Abi & Kevin more through some Q&A’s below:
Tell us more about yourself, and your family. Plus, what instrument will you first teach Levi?
Abi: I grew up in the church, am the daughter of a worship minister, and started singing publicly at the age of five. As I grew up, I developed a deep love for the Church and worship leading. I started leading in my church youth band when I was fourteen years old.
After I graduated from high school, I felt the call to pursue worship ministry school, and attended 10,000 Fathers and Mother’s worship school in 2015. It had such a strong impact on not just how I lead, but how I live my life as a whole. The thing that excites me the most about leading at LFC is creating a space open for all people to come and experience the love of Jesus in an authentic way, and worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.
Kevin: I first picked up a guitar at the age of 11 and taught myself the basics so that I could play in my schools jazz band. I quickly found myself playing acoustic in the praise and worship band in my youth group which I did for many years. After high school, I was the vocalist for a band for around five years until I met Abi!
I served as an audio tech running sound and monitors for two years before Abi and I began leading together with our friend Duane at Christ Church Suwannee where we first met the Harwells. We were able to learn and develop our gifts and leadership for five years before moving to Woodstock and linking up with a small church that needed our help here. My greatest excitement in leading at LFC is to help build a strong community within the family of Christ that can come together and cry out songs of praise, hope, and restoration to God.
Abi and I tied the knot in October of 2018, lived in a small one-bedroom apartment in Alpharetta for three years, and then landed in Woodstock in October of 2021.
In April of 2022, we found out we were having a baby, and our son Levi joined us in January of 2023. We already see Levi’s love for music, and as he grows we want to encourage him to learn the drums- although we think he may want to learn guitar and piano as well!
We couldn’t be more grateful for the ways that God has blessed our family.
Describe a moment/time in your life that worship was a really powerful moment in your faith and how it impacted you?
Abi’: I first came to know the Lord when I was fourteen years old at a youth worship event. I don’t remember what song was playing, but I knew in an instant that Jesus loved me a whole lot.
I’m a strong believer that you’re never the same once you experience the love of God, and that rings true for me today.
Kevin: On my 17th birthday, my cousin Jake (also 17) lost his life in a tragic hunting accident. This shattered my family, but by the grace of God, also brought us closer together. During his funeral service, we sang the song “I Can Only Imagine.”
As I (and the entire room) failed to fight off tears, the Lord overwhelmed my heart with comfort, love, and a perfect peace that only comes from Him. It was in my brokenheartedness that I truly understood that, for me, and many others, worship is the purest form of communicating our deepest feelings to God. He desires our worship, and our hearts desire to pour out our worship to him, especially when it is all that we have to give.
Describe your coffee order…
Abi: Vanilla latte- hot in the winter, iced in the summer.
Kevin: Black rifle coffee freshly ground in a pour-over. Maybe some creamer… maybe not. Hot year round!
As you've been in multiple churches, what does your family most look for in a church in your current stage of life?
Biblically sound, authentic worship, deep, intentional friendship, and serving the community. We seek a place where our community can grow and thrive together, and where we can raise our son, in an environment that is bound by biblical truth and desires to seek and serve the Lord.
We are thrilled to worship the Lord with Abi & Kevin! (And Levi)
It is with great joy that we sing to a God who loves us so much. These two desire to see our hearts drawn closer and changed through worship and we’re thrilled to worship with them as the lead us every Sunday at 10am.
Join us in welcoming Abi & Kevin and get to know them more on Sundays and through upcoming events.
