Exploring “Messy” Marriages & Hope Together
Join Living Fellowship Church Sundays at 10 AM.
In exploring “Messy” relationships, one relationship that emerges near the top of the list (whether we like to admit it or not) is the relationship between husband and wife.
Local church planter Tony Thomas is joining us this Sunday 5/1 for week two of our Messy series together. (Learn more about this series and our hope.) He’ll be exploring the messy relationship of marriage and what God’s intentional design is for husband and wife.
Many people grow up daydreaming of life with their perfect spouse.
We have images of romance and happiness from the culture and our imagination.
We attend weddings with the picture-perfect bride and groom and we can’t wait until it’s our turn.
For those who do get married, every couple finds out that reality is not like the dream.
Now, this is not to say marriage isn’t beautiful and enjoyable and life-giving. God certainly designed it to be that way.
The problem is we are “sinners” and we are marrying a fellow “sinner”. And so often our dreams of fulfillment, laughter, and romance are crashed with the realities of disagreements, arguments, and disappointments.
But thankfully, for those who are in Christ, the “messiness” of marriage is exactly where Christ wants to meet us with His Gospel and His grace.
What we’ll find out is that if we search for the eternal purposes of God in Scripture, we’ll discover that the “messiness” of marriage has always been part of His unique design.
And so, it is actually seeing and experiencing love, forgiveness, and redemption in the “messiness” of marriage that makes it more beautiful and satisfying than we had even dared to hope or imagine.
Our hope for this Sunday 5/1 is that, whatever dreams of marriage we grew up believing, we’d instead have those dreams supplanted with a far superior reality - with the better and truer story of the marriage of Christ to His Church - and see how that marriage story changes everything for our marriages here on earth.
We hope you’ll join us on Sundays from April 24 to June 5 as we dive into the mess of relationships.
